If I've learned anything over 26 years in the television industry, it's how blessed and fortunate I am to have a job that's afforded me so many opportunities. I've traveled all around the U.S. and to at least a half-dozen foreign countries. My work has been seen on most of the largest broadcast and cable networks. I've produced programming ranging from :30 promos to full length documentaries, for clients that include large production houses, TV stations, major corporations, and small non-profits. Best of all, I've been able to make friends with the finest people in the business.

My career started just a few days after graduating cum laude' from Winthrop University with a Communications degree in 1984. I started as a news videographer/editor in Greenville, SC, and soon moved on to shoot and edit for PM Magazine, a nationally syndicated entertainment program supported by production at the local station level. I always wanted to produce, and in 1987 I was able to grab the field producer gig for the PM Magazine unit at WIS-TV in Columbia, SC. Within 18 months, I was promoted to the show Producer position. Eventually, the show was cancelled nationwide, and I moved back to news producing special projects, a morning news/talk show, and later the nightly 11:00 report.

In 1992, I took a position with Creative Sports, later merged into ESPN Regional, in Charlotte, NC. I produced magazine shows for the NBA Charlotte Hornets and NASCAR. I also produced several ESPN documentaries on NASCAR subjects, then got a taste of big-time live television as producer of the Winston Cup prerace show "NASCAR Today". The experience was great, but the travel was brutal especially with a wife and two young children at home.

That's when I decided to form Ligon Productions. I've continued working on lots of sports programs but also on corporate projects as well. My experience as a feature producer has helped me land jobs on shows for HGTV, TNN, Food Network, SPEED, DIY, and more. I also enjoy producing Christian programming for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Affiliated Media.

As I said, I've been blessed. I've gained a wealth of knowledge and experience, and had a great time doing it. Hopefully, the Lord willing, I can have 20 more successful years doing what I do best.
